Some of us are getting a bit anxious, but not too much. The trip will be a whole new experience for us, as we have never been abroad without our parents before. Our skills in English and German are also put to the test, as our hosts don't know a word of Finnish - although we intend on teaching them some!
We wonder if we can express ourselves in a way that is understandable. We know some common phrases in German, but conversation feels a bit stiff and unsure. It is also slow to develop the sentences needed for basic interaction. "Entschuldigung, ich verstehe nicht!" can be an useful phrase on the trip.
